Update November 2021: We have submitted revised proposals to Westminster City Council

A before and after showing the changes to the scheme

Welcome to our dedicated website on plans to redevelop the existing Travis Perkins site at Baltic Wharf, Paddington to provide an improved Travis Perkins branch on the ground floor and new managed student accommodation on the floors above.

Since submitting a planning application in July 2021 we have listened to comments from the community and Westminster planning officers. It was clear that, while there was support to see the site redeveloped, some elements of the scheme needed to be reconsidered.

In direct response, we have amended our proposals. The main changes include:

  • A reduction in height of two storeys, achieved by:

    • Removing a top floor, including plant enclosure

    • Removing a lower, full floor, covering entire building

  • A meaningful reduction in student bedrooms from 843 to 768

  • The redesign of the façade to emphasis vertical elements of building

  • A significant addition to both ground level and roof garden landscaping

  • A positive improvement to daylight/sunlight impact on Sheldon Square and Dudley House

  • An undertaking to explore retention or re-use of part of historical warehouse façade, as a piece of public art

  • Further landscape improvements at both ground and roof levels

  • An undertaking to consolidate servicing to minimise impact on local roads

  • The removal of the proposed loading bay and confirmation that the no. 18 bus stop on Bishops Bridge Road will not be relocated
